SUPPORT THE SPRING CAMPAIGN TODAY
Double your impact and give today - WSCAH's Board of Directors has committed to a Spring Match Challenge: Every dollar you give will be doubled up to $85,000!
Far too many of our neighbors are facing a heartbreaking reality: empty refrigerators and empty plates. With federal budgets shrinking, food prices rising, and more New Yorkers turning to food pantries than ever before, the lifelines that once sustained them are being pulled away. Across the country — and right here in New York City —emergency food programs are bracing for these devasting cuts that will leave frontline food providers scrambling to meet growing demand with fewer resources.
WSCAH is stepping up to fill the gap—but we can’t do it alone. That’s why our Board of Directors has committed to a Spring Match Challenge: Every dollar you give will be doubled up to $85,000, providing twice as much fresh, nutritious food to families who need it now more than ever.
These resources are vital to ensure ongoing access at our community partner, NMIC. We have provided food with NMIC since 2017. In the last year, we've served over 1,000 families through twice-monthly distributions. WSCAH and NMIC both lost vital EFSP funding year, which may force us to cut one of these monthly distributions. That would mean over 600 families in Washington Heights—many with children, seniors, or people with disabilities—would have nowhere to turn.
Will you help WSCAH keep food on the table for hundreds of families by making a gift this spring?
To understand just how deeply this affects people, meet a longtime NMIC pantry customer and volunteer, Maria. She’s been receiving food support for over five years and now gives back by helping others at pantry distributions and other NMIC programs.

“It helps me save money in so many ways and allows me to stretch my dollars. I don’t have to constantly go to the supermarket to buy fresh produce, which is very expensive. A stalk of celery costs so much more than it used to. This food means I can pay my electricity, heat, water, gas, rent, and transportation. Please, support this kind of work. It’s so important. Programs like this help us feed ourselves and our families with healthy food. It helps our health. It helps us stay independent. I’m a senior—it even helps me save the energy I would spend walking to the grocery store.”
